Arts & Crafts Clubs

 

 

The Art Club welcomes residents of all skill levels who enjoy expressing their artistic talents and social interaction related to art. Members meet weekly on Wednesday and/or Thursday afternoon from 1-4 in the Hospitality Room (next to the Textile Arts Room). Members use watercolor, acrylic or oil paints, collage or fabric art. Realistic or abstract paintings are determined by the member and support is always given. Occasionally classes are offered. We bring our own supplies, but beginner supplies are available in the cabinet if you want to give it a try. Whether you're an experienced painter or just learning you are welcome.

• Classes meet once a week from October to April.
• One class meets on Tuesday and another class on Thursday.
• We also have a work group that meets Wednesday year around.
• Class time is usually from 1PM to 3PM depending upon volunteers

 

Textile Arts Center

Our Mission:
To develop and expand appreciation and knowledge of quilting and textile arts in a fun, sharing and social atmosphere.
All SSV residents interested in fabric or related craft activities are invited to become members and use our space. The Textile Arts Center(TAC) is located in the Activities Building, and has sewing machines and other basic supplies available for member use. 

 

• Open weekdays and weekends from 9am to 3 pm, when monitors are available.
• Open late afternoon and weekends when monitors are available. 
• Current hours and room monitors are posted on the TAC room door.

• Business Meeting: 2nd Monday of each month.
• Show and Tell Meeting: 4th Monday of each month.
• All meetings begin at 1:00pm and are followed by social time.

The Class Coordinators plan and schedule a variety of classes during the season. Classes range in skill level from beginner to advanced. Members can choose the level best suited to their skills, while still learning new techniques.

 

Interest Groups provide an opportunity for TAC Members with shared interest to meet and share knowledge informally. There is no formal class with an Interest Group unless arranged by the participants. Typically an Interest Group meeting will include sharing of ideas and information and may include informal or 1:1 instruction between participants.

 
Current interest groups include: Bag Lady, Clothing Construction, Knit and Crochet, Machine Embroidery and Swedish Weaving.

From building furniture to turning wooden bowls - the SSV Woodshop has the tools and machines for you to learn and grow. Many of our members came into the Woodshop with very little experience in woodworking and are very willing to pass along what they have learned to newcomers.

The Woodshop is located in the craft wing behind the building that contains the card and billiard rooms as well as the HOA office.

To use the Woodshop, any resident must first complete a safety orientation course. Information about becoming a member and additional information about the Woodshop can be found on the Woodshop’s website - https://sites.google.com/view/ssvwoodshop/home
